About VAGP
The Victorian Association for Gestalt Practitioners (VAGP) is a member-based organisation grounded in gestalt therapy’s power to transform, heal, and connect.
We support practitioners at every stage of their journey — from students building confidence, to graduates developing their practice, through to established practitioners seeking reflection, growth, and leadership opportunities.
We also accredit gestalt therapy training organisations and register gestalt therapists, as part of offering a home to gestalt practitioners.
Our aim is to foster a thriving community where gestalt students, graduates, and practitioners can deepen their connections, expand their learning, and contribute to the promotion of gestalt therapy in the wider community.

How we connect

Professional development
We offer rich learning opportunities through The Gestalt Project, supervision groups, and conferences, plus seminars exploring new research, demonstration work, and practice.
Social events
Connect with peers in a relaxed setting. Our social events create informal opportunities to meet, share experiences, and enjoy being part of the gestalt community.
Our Committee
The VAGP Committee 2026 is a group of dedicated practitioners and graduates working together to support our members and promote gestalt therapy.

Governance and rules
The Victorian Association for Gestalt Practitioners (VAGP) is an incorporated association and operates in accordance with the requirements of Consumer Affairs Victoria.
We follow the Model Rules for an Incorporated Association as set out by Consumer Affairs Victoria. These rules apply automatically unless an association chooses to opt out or amend them. The VAGP has not adopted a separate or modified set of rules, and therefore the Model Rules apply in full.
To ensure transparency and currency, we provide a direct link to the Model Rules on the Consumer Affairs Victoria website rather than reproducing them here. This means that any updates made by the regulator are immediately reflected in the rules that govern our association.
You can access the Model Rules here:

Our purpose
Grounded in the transformative and healing potential of Gestalt therapy, the VAGP provides practitioners with opportunities for connection, learning, and reflection, and is committed to promoting Gestalt therapy within the wider community.
We enhance the profession through initiatives that support professional standards and recognition, and by fostering the continued growth of training and education.
By nurturing the development and integrity of Gestalt practitioners, we contribute to a world enriched by awareness, connection, and compassion.
